After 15 years at Hale Aina Dining Facility, Ashley Parras was ready to grow her career. With support from Lanakila Pacific Employment Services, she started as a dishwasher at Chao restaurant last fall, a role that builds on her experience and goals.
Ashley was nervous and shy at first. The Chao team says Ashley has blossomed over time, bringing joy and humor to work every day. “Ashley is punctual and has a strong work ethic,” said Michelle Jackson, Chao’s Director of Resource Management. “Dishwashing is tough work. To have someone handle a full shift on their own and still bring a positive attitude is incredible.”
Chao partnered with Lanakila Pacific Employment Services to strengthen its kitchen team in an industry known for high turnover. The partnership creates successful, mission-driven opportunities.
For Ashley, the job brings routine, confidence, and greater independence. For Chao, it means a reliable team member who keeps the kitchen running smoothly. “We appreciate Ashley for her careful work,” said Chancelor Kim, Chao’s Managing Partner. “She teaches us as much as we teach her.” The Chao restaurant group is expanding its business portfolio and has already reached out to partner with Lanakila Pacific again.
