For the past three years, Lanakila Meals on Wheels has brought Craig comfort, nourishment, and care. Each week, volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals to his door with a friendly smile.
“Before I had Meals on Wheels, there wasn’t enough food,” Craig shared. “I had nothing to eat, but now I’ve got plenty of food. It made a big difference.”
He first learned about the program through his case manager and now relies on it, especially when benefits run low. The volunteers mean as much to him as the meals. “They’re really nice,” he said. “They’re polite, every one of them.”
Favorite dishes like sweet pork and the special holiday meals make each season brighter. “Oh yeah, the turkey meal!” Craig laughed. “That’s a good one.”
Lanakila Meals on Wheels provides more than 320,000 meals each year to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities across Oahu. Along with deliveries, volunteers provide wellness checks and friendly visits that offer connection and peace of mind.
“Meals on Wheels helps me a lot,” Craig said. “It’s good to feel cared for.”
